The Melbourne Football Club has slammed the "abhorrent" racist tweet aimed at star recruit Harley Bennell.
It was an emotional night for Harley Bennell who kicked his first goal for his new club after the siren to help the Demons to a 17-point win over Gold Coast.

But moments after the dramatic finish to the clash, Bennell was targeted in a racist comment posted on social media.

Commenting on the AFL's video of Bennell's goal, a user with the twitter handle James W. Ferguson posted "fing a**" before the account was later deleted.
