Michigan state Rep. Kyra Harris Bolden, D-Southfield, has tested positive for COVID-19, she disclosed on social media Tuesday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, Bolden said she was notified Nov. 12 that she'd been exposed to COVID-19 while working with colleagues and took two COVID-19 tests, once when she was asymptomatic and again after she began experiencing mild symptoms.

The first test came back negative, she wrote in the post. The second came back positive "but took several days to receive," she continued.

"Thankfully, my symptoms have been very mild and I am on the mend," Bolden said.

Bolden encouraged her fellow lawmakers to take the virus seriously and get tested out of an abundance of caution, "particularly before returning to committee and session."
