Former President Donald Trump called the man charged with killing five people at a Wisconsin Christmas parade over the weekend a "rough cookie" — adding that the ex-con should not have been released on bail in an unrelated case.

"He was out on bail and he was a rough cookie," Trump said of Darrell Brooks, 39, during an hour-long interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Tuesday night. The 45th president added that "based on early reporting, he should not have been out."
