A woman's 'thug' ex partner who attempted to assault her was saved from by a friend - who whacked him in the head with a frying pan.

David John Shorrock, 34, was originally given a restraining order in 2018 to prevent him from contacting the victim after their "toxic" relationship came to an end.

But the woman asked a friend to stay at her house in Accrington after receiving a string of threatening and abusive text messages from Shorrock that begun on October 4, 2019.
