The Biden presidency is starting at a precarious point in American history, but a majority of Americans say the next president will do more to bring the country together than to tear it apart, according to the latest PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll.

Interviews with four members of the U.S. Capitol Police who were overrun by rioters on Jan. 6 show just how quickly the command structure collapsed as throngs of people, egged on by President Donald Trump, set upon the Capitol.

In separate incidents over the weekend, police arrested a 63-year-old woman who claimed to be an officer and a 22-year-old man carrying a firearm, high capacity magazines and unregistered ammunition.
