Is there anything more annoying in football than wanting to see a new signing in action, but being denied that thrill for one reason or another? There probably is in all fairness, but that doesn't take anything away from the frustration that Liverpool fans have had to endure over the past few weeks.

For the majority of the summer, pretty much all of the transfer hype was dominated by Thiago Alcântara and whether he would leave Bayern Munich to move to Anfield. Then, on a September afternoon, the deal was confirmed and most of Kopites' dreams were realised.

Since then, it hasn't quite gone to plan, but none of that is Liverpool or the player's fault. Soon after the 29-year-old arrived, he was diagnosed with Covid-19 and fulfilled the required amount of time on the sidelines and in self isolation.

Then came the Merseyside derby, and it was finally the chance for Liverpool fans to see what he could do against their nearest rivals. While he did complete the full 90 minutes, a reckless challenge from Richarlison caused Thiago to suffer an injury and has been absent ever since.

It is now six games and five weeks since that afternoon at Goodison Park, and as a result Liverpool fans are desperate to see Thiago in action. They are not alone. Jürgen Klopp and his backroom staff, as well as the rest of the squad, will also want to see the Spaniard out there doing what he does best.

Whether we will see him against Leicester City this evening remains to be seen, after all he hasn't been pictured in first-team training for some time, until there were shots of him at the AXA Training Centre this week.
