University of Fort Hare's vice-chancellor Sakhela Buhlungu has come under attack from "concerned staff members".

The brother of University of Fort Hare vice-chancellor Professor Sakhela Buhlungu and his wife Nobantu Ethelina Buhlungu have died of Covid-19 - just days apart.

A group of 78 students from the University of Fort Hare in the Eastern Cape who owed the institution money are set to graduate on Friday after their debts were paid by the university's alumni.

Two staff members at the University of Fort Hare have been suspended on separate allegations of harassment, sexual harassment and gender-based violence. Criminal charges were laid and one has been arrested. According to the university's spokesperson, Tandi Mapukata, two unrelated complaints were filed, one by a student and the other by a staff member.
